The television series based on the acclaimed video game God of War for Prime Video is moving forward after some changes in its writing team. Ronald D. Moore, known for his work on Battlestar Galactica and For All Mankind, joins the project as the new writer. Despite his vast experience in the industry, Moore has admitted that he is not a “gamer” and that he has struggled to adapt to modern video game controls. In a recent conversation with actress Katee Sackhoff, he mentioned that while he has difficulties, his family is very fond of video games, including titles like The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.
A series doomed to success
There is still a lot of work ahead for the God of War series. A start date for filming has not been confirmed, nor is it known who will be the lead actor in this ambitious adaptation. However, the writer has indicated that he has material to develop two seasons, suggesting a long-term commitment to the project. The series is expected to be based on the most recent video games from SIE Santa Monica, which are set in Norse mythology, although this information has not yet been officially confirmed.
It is speculated that we could receive updates about the series around the 20th anniversary of God of War, which is celebrated on March 22. This anniversary could be an opportune moment to reveal more details, perhaps even the name of the lead actor. Meanwhile, it is interesting to observe the growing interest in video game adaptations, as evidenced by the success of The Last of Us, which will launch its second season on Max on April 14. These movements reflect a trend in the industry towards stories that connect with the legacy of video games, offering new narrative possibilities to a broader audience.
