The developers of Pokémon TCG Pocket, Creatures Inc. and DeNA, have announced significant changes to the game’s trading dynamics, which will be implemented in the coming months. The trade tokens, introduced at the end of January, will be eliminated and replaced by a new currency known as shinedust. This decision is a response to the negative reception that the tokens received, as they required players to destroy duplicate cards to obtain them.
An important change after all the controversy raised
The shinedust will be necessary to exchange cards of specific rarities, such as those with three and four diamonds, as well as those with one star. Although the exact details about the amount of shinedust required for each exchange have not yet been revealed, the developers have indicated that shinedust will be generated automatically upon receiving duplicate cards in the game. Additionally, there is consideration to increase the amount of shinedust awarded to players.
To facilitate the exchange process, a new feature will also be implemented that will allow players to share the cards they wish to trade. The aim is to enhance the trading experience and make it smoother. The developers are evaluating the possibility of allowing the exchange of cards that are currently not negotiable, including promotional cards and two-star rarity cards.
The recent expansion Triumphant Light, released at the end of February, has coincided with the success of the game, which has reached over 100 million downloads. On the other hand, it was reported that Niantic’s gaming division was acquired by Scopely for an amount of 3.5 billion dollars; however, this will not affect the plans for the Pokémon Go Fest event that will take place in several cities during the summer. Beyond this, a new Pokémon game for Nintendo Switch has been announced, titled Pokémon Legends Z-A, which revealed details about its starter Pokémon ahead of its expected release this year.
