The sound in Helldivers 2 is considered one of the most impressive and critical elements for the gaming experience; however, the sound mixing has flaws that can affect gameplay. Players often complain about not being able to perceive enemies like the Rusher approaching from behind, which can result in missed defense opportunities and a less immersive gaming experience.
Necessary mods for an optimal multiplayer experience
To address these complaints, several mods have been developed, among which Heavy Units Remastered and Chaff Units Remastered stand out. These modifications promise to improve the sound mix and, in theory, allow players to hear enemies approaching from outside their field of vision. However, their implementation is not without risks, as developers warn about the possibility that using certain mods could crash the game or even lead to user account bans.
Recently, a message in the official Discord of the game indicated that “all visual mods and some sound mods are blocking/crashing the game.” This has resulted in a large number of reports from players experiencing performance issues after installing these modifications. B Vitamin, one of the developers of Helldivers 2, pointed out that although bans for using mods had not been a problem before, the game’s performance has been compromised due to certain aesthetic and sound modifications.
This leaves players at a crossroads: to choose to enhance their sound experience and take on the risk of technical issues or to play with the limitations of the current system. As the community continues to debate the right solution, the sound situation in Helldivers 2 continues to generate attention and concerns within the gamer universe.
