Halloween has arrived, and with the American holiday comes the big question that arises every year: What should I dress up as? While we’re used to anything going for Carnival, Halloween is different: we can only dress up as things that are scary. So, movies and TV shows are usually our main source of inspiration.
However, many of these costumes have been seen a lot, so why not look at recent movies? Here are some costume ideas that can work perfectly for Halloween… if you want to do more than wrap yourself in a sheet and be a ghost. From recent TV shows to movies from the past few years, anything goes:
M3gan
Do you remember M3gan, the dancing robot that terrified us earlier this year? Well, we can’t think of a better costume for this Halloween… although we also have to say that it doesn’t seem too original.
Wednesday
Wednesday (or Merlina in Latin America) is another of the standout characters for Halloween. It was the most popular last year, and everything suggests it will be a trend again. It’s certainly easy to do and effective, so why not?
Vecna
We’ve seen many Stranger Things costumes over the years, but Vecna’s look didn’t appear until recently. If you want to dress up as this terrifying character, it’s best to get a lot of makeup… or a purchased costume.
The Nun
Another costume that is somewhat common but functional and very current is that of The Nun. This year, the second part has been released, so it’s justified. And, if you want to put a twist on it, you can always go as Sister Death, Netflix and Paco Plaza’s response to this terrifying character.
Boxing priest… or the Pope’s exorcist.
Continuing with religion, men also have choices: they could either dress up as the buff priest from “30 Coins” or as the stocky Exorcist played by Russell Crowe in “The Pope’s Exorcist.” You have options to choose from at your leisure.
Cocaine addicted-bear
One of the wildest movies in recent years has been “Cocaine Bear,” and it obviously has a costume to match. Only suitable for furries, but still fun and terrifying.
Villain of the House of Usher
Mike Flanagan gives us new potential Halloween costumes every year, and this year, he has given us a rather sexy and fun one of the villain from “The Fall of the House of Usher.” I don’t think many people will get it, but it’s cool anyway.
Bird Box Barcelona
Bird Box is another interesting Netflix IP, and a movie set in Barcelona was recently released in that world. If you want to pull off a Mario Casas look and dress up like that, it’s not a bad idea for this Halloween.
