While gamers are eagerly awaiting to know something (anything) about The Elder Scrolls 6, the future installment from Bethesda announced in 2018, the company already released a new title in this saga last September. What? You didn’t know? Well, let me explain.

Yesterday, Bethesda officially announced The Elder Scrolls: Castles, the next game from the team responsible for the popular Fallout Shelter. The most curious thing about this new installment of the TES saga is that the official announcement comes more than three months after a playable version randomly appeared on the Google Play Store. Just like that.

“We are excited to finally share The Elder Scrolls: Castles, our new mobile game from the team behind Fallout Shelter,” said the official Bethesda account on Twitter. “The team has worked hard on it for the past few years and we love it.”

“In Castles, you will build your own dynasty where every day in our world is a year in the game world. Citizens are born, die, rulers change, and they can be betrayed,” the company states. “This preliminary release is one of the first steps to receive your feedback and make changes before it is launched worldwide.”

Bethesda points out that “The Elder Scrolls: Castles is currently available in the Philippines and will be released in more countries in the coming months“. Interested users can already pre-register on the App Store and Google Play Store, where information about the game is displayed, such as the minimum device requirements and account setup in the help center.

The Elder Scrolls: Castles would be released in December 2025 according to the game’s listing on the mobile App Store, or in December 2024 according to the desktop App Store, so the actual release date is unknown. Either way, it’s a tantalizing appetizer for those who are waiting for The Elder Scrolls 6 (hang in there).
