Bethesda is about to “give birth” to its next big title. Tomorrow, September 1, the lucky owners of the Premium or Constellation editions of Starfield will be able to start traveling through space in search of adventure, 5 days before the players who have a normal edition of the game or play it through Xbox Game Pass.

However, Starfield is not the only game Bethesda has been working on lately. Looking back, many of us still remember the teaser of a game that gamers have been waiting for: The Elder Scrolls VI.

Brief and with virtually no relevant information, this 2018 teaser is the only thing that has come out to date about Skyrim’s successor.

However, this week we learned a little more about what will be Bethesda’s biggest bet in its entire history. During the last Gamescom 2023, Vandal had the opportunity to interview Pete Hines, the vice president of Bethesda and the person in charge of marketing and communication, dropping several pieces of information of interest.

Rounding off an interview where Hines talks about his Starfield experience and comments on the success of games like Baldur’s Gate 3, the Bethesda VP confirmed that the company is already working on The Elder Scrolls 6, although they are currently focused on Starfield.

“Yes, there are people working on The Elder Scrolls VI, but this is what the studio has been focused on,” Hines says. “At no point early on are you going to hear about The Elder Scrolls VI at all. Starfield is our focus for now, and it’s going to remain our priority for a while before we talk about anything else.”

Hines also points out that the game is neither in pre-production nor in a conceptual phase, but is already in development. However, he also lets it be known that the game is going to be in development for a long time: “It’s in development, but it’s in early development”.
