Artificial intelligence has many good and many bad things. But, if we had to choose what makes this technology unmissable for the good of humanity, it is to imagine a Harry Potter designed by Balenciaga.
We’ve been asking artificial intelligence to imagine what great artists who died in the 90s would look like… but in the present day. Today we bring you something that goes beyond: a parallel universe where J. K. Rowling didn’t invent Harry Potter, it was Balenciaga.
Harry Potter never had so much style
The video posted on YouTube by the demonflyingfox channel has almost 4 million views and counting. And it is not for less.
The video, from beginning to end, is wonderful. In case you haven’t seen it, we leave it below just in case. Press Play while we tell you what’s in it.
Hagrid, Snape, Draco Malfoy, Ron, Harry Potter, Dumbledore, etc. All the important characters of the saga appear in the video with an outfit and an aesthetic that not even Balenciaga himself could have done better.
As if it were a model parade, they make an appearance reimagined both in terms of clothing and physique. All angular features and pronounced jaws.
Hagrid is sublime, Harry Potter could be an actual model and Dobby is the most terrifying thing you’ll ever see. Really, what a bad roll: we leave you a screenshot so you don’t miss any detail.
If in a month’s time a “Balenciaga x Harry Potter” clothing line comes out, don’t be surprised, although we highly doubt that there’s a marketing campaign behind it. Nobody is that much of a genius.
Even if the video is imperfect, it is striking that the technology to create this kind of content is already available and accessible to the public. This raises the question of whether this video could be a glimpse into the future of art and entertainment.
Perhaps we are on the cusp of a new era in which AI applications will play a major role in the creation of entertainment content.
If you’ve got the urge to watch all the Harry Potter movies, remember that you have them on HBO Max and that downloading the app is free, just like the seven-day trial period you have to enjoy a movie marathon.
