David Ayer is one of the most important action directors of the 21st century and yet, since he directed Suicide Squad, his fame has only gone downhill. The filmmaker took the helm of the movie that many consider to be the one that took the DC Comics audiovisual universe to the deepest depths, and since then it doesn’t seem that he has raised his head.

His next films, Bright and The Tax Collector also had negative reviews and not much public support, so it seemed that his career was doomed. However, Ayer has just released the trailer for Beekeeper: The Protector, his next film with which he wants to change his luck for good.

An action-packed movie

In Beekeeper: The Protector, Ayer teams up with an actor who is a classic of the genre and (almost) never fails: Jason Statham. After the award-winning Megalodon 2, Statham stumbled a bit with The Mercenaries 4, which turned out to be a flop, but the action hero is back with this new film in which he wants to be acclaimed again.

Beekeeper: The Protector tells the story of a man who undertakes a brutal revenge against a company that is dedicated to scamming the weakest online. This fight becomes a national bet after it is revealed that he is a former agent of a powerful and clandestine organization known as “the beekeepers”.

Beyond Jason Statham, the film’s cast includes top names like Josh Hutcherson, Jeremy Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, Taylor James and Michael Epp. The feature film will be released next January 12, 2024, so we will still have to wait a little bit to see it. Will it be the resurgence expected by Ayer or a new bluff in his career?
