Although the first season of The Last of Us has ended, zombies never go out of fashion and now they are coming back in the form of a new video game that we have been waiting for a long time. Dead Island 2 will arrive on April 21, 2023, and we already have the first impressions of the critics who have been able to test it.
The first Dead Island came out for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011, and became an entertainment phenomenon for an entire generation of gamers. Now, more than a decade later, Dambuster Studios has taken Techland’s development and created a sequel that, by the looks of it, delivers on all the blood, gore and fun it promises.

Does Dead Island 2 live up to the first game?
Dead Island 2 is an open world game set in a place called HELL-A (something like “The Devils”) that recreates the cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco. In the game we will control a survivor of the Zombie Apocalypse that must kill all the undead that is capable, and will do so using absolutely all the objects that are at your disposal.
The game promises a relentless pace and a lot of fun. But what do the critics say? We leave you with some of the first opinions that have arrived.
So far, it looks spectacular and seems to deliver everything it promises:
“The gore in Dead Island 2 is on another level. It’s superior to anything else you’ve ever seen in a video game. The way the zombies crumble when you hit them, melt them and burn them really has to be seen to be believed. It’s gruesome and glorious at the same time. It’s like an early Peter Jackson film come to life.”- Eurogamer
“Judging from the few hours I’ve played the game, I think it’s safe to say that the studio has managed to find beauty in gore.”- Games Radar
“Dead Island 2 is a big step in the right direction. The game’s setting in the beautiful Hollywood Hills is amazing.”- GGRecon
“Really, we have a solid basis to say that it’s a lot of fun to skin meat in the game. It’s been worth the wait” – IGN
“Combat is deliciously bloody” – Forbes
