According to Windows Central and Xbox Era, we could see the release of Diablo IV a lot sooner than we initially expected. Both publications are of the firm belief that even though Diablo IV has been given a tentative 2023 release window, the game could, more specifically, release sometime around April 2023. Windows Central expects early access to the game to launch in February and pre-orders possibly even beginning before the end of 2022.

These are, however, merely rumors for now. We’re expecting to get more news about Blizzard’s Diablo IV release during The Game Awards in December this year. Luckily, that means that we won’t necessarily have to wait too long for the developer to announce its plans for the highly-anticipated game.

As we covered previously, Blizzard advertised that it would give Diablo IV closed beta access to select players who had previously spent ‘significant time in Diablo endgame experiences.’ That is now currently in progress, as numerous online leaks have suggested.

The thing with rumors like this is that even though they’ve been written and propagated by legitimate websites, we still need to take them with a pinch of salt. We know that the game is going to launch at some point in 2023. We know that the developers are currently working with select players in a closed beta test period. The game is nearing completion. These are the facts that tell us that we won’t have to wait long for the release should everything go smoothly with the testing.

All we can do at this point is wait patiently and see what happens in December at The Game Awards event. Until then, the other option is to tear every piece of written and visual media released about the game apart and search for clues about the release date.

In other news, a recent leak has revealed the potential for players to skip the entire Diablo IV campaign.

I hail from the awe-inspiring beauty of South Africa. Born and raised in Pretoria, I've always had a deep interest in local history, particularly conflicts, architecture, and our country's rich past of being a plaything for European aristocracy. 'Tis an attempt at humor. My interest in history has since translated into hours at a time researching everything from the many reasons the Titanic sank (really, it's a wonder she ever left Belfast) to why Minecraft is such a feat of human technological accomplishment. I am an avid video gamer (Sims 4 definitely counts as video gaming, I checked) and particularly enjoy playing the part of a relatively benign overlord in Minecraft. I enjoy the diverse experiences gaming offers the player. Within the space of a few hours, a player can go from having a career as an interior decorator in Sims, to training as an archer under Niruin in Skyrim. I believe video games have so much more to teach humanity about community, kindness, and loyalty, and I enjoy the opportunity to bring concepts of the like into literary pieces.
