Right now, Apple TV+ has become the undisputed home of science fiction. Tim Cook’s streaming platform has several series and programs in its catalog that have made it grow among fans of this genre, but it wasn’t always like this. Just look at Netflix’s big hits, like Black Mirror or Love, Death & Robots, to realize that this VOD service has also bet heavily on the genre. And the movie they just announced also follows this path.

Produced by Michael Fassbender and co-directed by Kibwe Tavares and Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah), The Kitchen is a film that takes us to a dystopian London where social inequality has reached its peak and those who are not born with privileges have to fend for themselves. The trailer is as follows:

Dystopias, wars and class struggle

The kitchen takes us to know the story of Izi and Benji, two residents of a community in a futuristic London where the poorest have to fight day by day for survival. The specific community is The kitchen, a place full of poor people who fight against the elites to stay on their feet, demanding only to be left alone.

This is a story of overcoming, brotherhood, and action in abundance. Motorcycle and even bicycle races can be seen in the trailer, and it is clear that the choice of its protagonists is not random. The film’s script has been written by Rob Hayes, Joe Murtagh, and Kaluuya himself, but it is a project that producer Daniel Emmerson has been trying to lift since 2014. The film will finally arrive on January 19, 2024 on Netflix.
