Stellantis is set to revolutionize the electric vehicle market with the upcoming Dodge Charger EV, slated for release in 2026.
This innovative model will be the first to feature Factorial Energy’s groundbreaking solid-state batteries, marking a significant shift in battery technology for the automotive industry.
Since 2021, Stellantis and Factorial have collaborated to bring this advanced technology from research into practical applications.
New Solid-State Batteries Enable Over 600-Mile Range for Upcoming Dodge Charger EV
Factorial’s solid-state batteries promise key advantages over traditional lithium-ion technology. Their Fest (Factorial Electrolyte System Technology) cells boast an impressive energy density of 375 Wh/kg, while also being 40% lighter than conventional lithium-ion batteries.
This drastic reduction in weight— from 800 lbs to just 580 lbs— allows for a more efficient energy exchange, enabling a driving range of over 600 miles. Charging time is significantly reduced, with the ability to reach 90% in just 18 minutes, illustrating the practicality of this next-generation technology.
Designed for versatility, Factorial’s battery system operates effectively in temperatures ranging from -30°C to 45°C (-22°F to 113°F), ensuring that the Dodge Charger EV can perform under various climatic conditions. The STLA Large platform, which also supports models like the Jeep Wagoneer S, is an ideal foundation for integrating this new battery pack, enhancing efficiency and performance.
Factorial Energy’s CEO, Siyu Huang, emphasized the importance of achieving a balance between energy density, safety, and fast charging, describing the collaboration with Stellantis as a breakthrough in bringing cutting-edge battery technology to market. This notable development is timely, as the automotive industry increasingly embraces electrification.
Furthermore, Factorial is also working with automotive giant Mercedes-Benz, which recently announced the successful deployment of a lithium-metal solid-state battery in its EQS model.
