Another Elden Ring Patch 1.02.2 to fix performance issues on PC and PS5

Following the recent release of a minor update for Elden Ring, game developers FromSoftware just released another patch to address a few more issues that weren’t fixed with patch 1.02.1. The latest patch, 1.02.2, addresses a few problems on PC and PS5.

This latest patch should have players on PC very excited as it addresses the slow performance plaguing players on computers since the release. Even though many players resorted to other workarounds to solve the problem, it’s nice to know that FromSoftware has released a patch to remedy it. This comes shortly after Elden Ring patch 1.02.1 already fixed other minor issues.

According to the patch notes for update 1.02.2, a bug caused Elden Ring to use the integrated graphics of the CPU instead of the dedicated graphics processing unit (GPU) on computers. This bug meant that even players with state-of-the-art graphics cards and dedicated gaming computers were experiencing low game performance because the game wasn’t using these graphics cards. This was a big issue for such a long-awaited game, and this patch will allow players on PC to start experiencing the game how the developers intended.

Another minor issue on PC was that the game would shut down unexpectedly when players faced the Fire Giant. This can be a significant irritant, leaving many PC players stuck with this particular battle. Luckily, patch 1.02.2 squashed this bug as well, meaning PC players can now battle the Fire Giant without issues.

PC:

• Fixed the bug where the game used the CPU instead of the graphics card, resulting in slow performance.
• Fixed an issue that caused the game to close during a battle with the Fire Giant.

PS5:

• Made changes to save game progression.

The developers revealed last week that they were aware of the issues relating to frame rate and performance on PC and were working on ways to improve this.
