How are you, shelter dweller? Have you just finished the first season of Fallout, the successful series from Amazon Prime Video, and you want your dose of post-apocalyptic world? Well, don’t worry, the good thing about Fallout being a series set in a video game saga is that you have a great collection of titles to play and experience firsthand the protagonists’ journey.

While at Softonic we already recommended the Fallout games that you would like the most according to your preferences, the writer of these lines has a clear favorite, Fallout: New Vegas, and will not sleep peacefully tonight if he does not recommend to his beloved readers to play this authentic masterpiece created by Obsidian. Whether you are going to play the game for the first time or revisit it, let me help you by telling you which are some of the best weapons in the game and where you can get them.

Patience

Patience is not only what you will need to kill a bloodthirsty (Deathclaw) in the early hours of the game, but it is also a precious hunting rifle that offers much more than it seems at first glance. With a three-bullet cartridge, many will think it is a mediocre (although unique) version of the conventional hunting rifle, but its true potential lies in its critical damage.

The damage of Patience is 55, only 3 points more than the regular hunting rifle, but with a critical damage multiplier of x2 and a critical damage of 110 (more than double than the conventional hunting rifle), this marvel can surpass the damage of the fearsome anti-materiel rifles. However, with 3 bullets in the magazine and an iron sight, arm yourself with patience and make every shot count. You can buy it from the Smugglers, at the gates of New Vegas.

Wow!

In my experience exploring the Mojave, I tend to use long-range weapons, but when an enemy gets too close and I don’t have time to aim or even reload, I usually have my beloved “Wow!” (yes, that’s its real name) close at hand. This peculiar melee weapon is a unique version of the super sledge, a kind of much more powerful axe that really packs a punch against the toughest creatures of the Mojave (yes, I’m looking at you, Cazadores).

Just like with Patience, “Wow!” may seem like a slightly better version of regular super sledges, with 10 more points of damage, but its potential lies in an incredible special attack that can only be used in V.A.T.S. in exchange for using 8 more action points and dealing +50% of the base damage. Additionally, this attack has the ability to knock enemies to the ground, giving you the opportunity to attack them without resistance. You can find it in the Charleston cave, north of Jacobstown.

Holorifle

By far, my favorite weapon in Fallout: New Vegas and one of the top contenders for the best weapon in the game. Finding the holorifle is not an easy task: you’ll have to head to the Abandoned Brotherhood of Steel Bunker located southeast of the Forlorn Hope camp and start the Dead Money DLC there, after which you won’t be able to return to the Mojave until you’ve completed all its missions (and believe me, it’s not exactly easy).

Once you obtain the Holorifle at the beginning of the DLC, its characteristics are already decent, but its potential is unlocked by obtaining its attachments, located in different areas of the Sierra Madre casino and its surroundings. This peculiar energy weapon uses only one microfusion cell per shot (something rare in energy weapons), dealing 80 damage, 80 critical damage, and an additional 13 damage every 3 seconds. I’m telling you: it’s hard to get, but it’s definitely worth it.
