Well, fans of The Office number in the millions. The funny thing is that this series is actually an American reboot of an English series starring Ricky Gervais. The original had only two seasons and the American one had 9.

To be fair, the English version laid the foundations and the idea, but it is the American version with Steve Carell that has gone down in history as one of the best sitcoms in the history of television. Well, brace yourselves, it’s coming soon.

The Office in the Australian style

The Office brand is getting an Australian version that will air on Amazon’s Prime Video and, most strikingly: we’ll have a female Michael Scott.

Australian comedian and actress Felicity Ward will play Hannah Howard, the CEO of packaging company Flinley Craddick in “The Office Australia.”

In a post-COVID plot twist, Howard receives word from the head office that his branch is closing and the staff will have to work from home. At that point he starts making promises he can’t keep and sets out outlandish schemes to keep his “work family” together.

The Australian adaptation is the thirteenth iteration of the series originally created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Other international adaptations have included France, Canada, Chile, Israel and the Middle East.

Filming on the eight-episode series will begin in Sydney in June. Production is being handled by Prime Video, BBC Studios Australia and New Zealand and Bunya Entertainment. The series will be an Amazon original and will premiere on Prime Video worldwide, excluding the U.S., in 2024.

If you’ve got the itch to watch The Office or you haven’t been able to watch it until now, don’t waste any more time and run to SkyShowtime, you’ll thank me.
