Fast X is about to hit the screens. The tenth installment of the Fast and Furious saga, which, as Vin Diesel explained, will be divided into three parts, will arrive in theaters worldwide on May 19th. Fast X is expected to achieve impressive numbers, as seen in the franchise’s recent films, and it even aims to surpass the $1.5 billion earned by the seventh installment.

But what does the critics say about the upcoming Fast and Furious film? The first reactions from those who have already seen it have arrived. And, without revealing substantial plot spoilers, it is clear that the new film follows the formula of its success. Although the reviews are mixed, the majority of them praise many aspects of the movie, especially Jason Momoa’s role as the new ultimate villain faced by the Toretto family.

First reactions to Fast X

What does the critics say about Fast X? Here are the first reactions from the specialists who have had access to press screenings and world premieres. It is clear, for now, that it aims to be a great conclusion to a saga that has already won over the audience:

I saw #FastX last week! It’s an exciting, wild, and non-stop action ride that delivers the most impactful ending of the franchise to date. It’s not perfect (the ending may divide fans), but it has grown on me, and I can’t wait to see it again. Definitely Universal trying to make this their Infinity War.

The following tweets in the thread continue to praise the film:

Extremely unpredictable, Dante feels like the Thanos of the Fast franchise (purple love included). Jason Momoa seems to have had a lot of fun doing this. One of the best villains in the franchise.

As for how it compares to the rest of the saga? I need another viewing to solidify where I would place it. I think it could be right in the middle of the franchise or slightly higher in my ranking. The original, Fast 5, and 7 are still better.

Few surprises. I definitely have some objections, and fans may feel like they’re getting 3/4 of a movie, but I had fun watching this as I do with all Fast movies. Looking forward to seeing it again. P.S.: My screening didn’t show the final post-credits scene.

Fast X reignites the Fast & Furious series, and the number one reason is Jason Momoa, who portrays Dante as the Joker-like character in the saga. He is a gleeful psychopath, and he is charming. Along with a story that avoids what made Fate of the Furious and F9 feel stale, it’s a win.

‘FastX’ is absolutely ridiculous (I loved every second of it). The action sequences and one-liners made my face ache from smiling so much. momoa is hilarious. The set is cool. At the cinema? Of course. The blockbuster of the summer? Hell yeah. Built for a popcorn-filled, big-screen experience.

In general, the reviews of the film are very positive. but it doesn’t always rain to everyone’s liking:

Fast X is the worst Fast film to date. Yes, including (insert your least favorite here). The action is entertaining, but it’s the first movie that doesn’t raise the stakes from the previous one, and the trademark notion of “Family” feels like an afterthought. But! Jason Momoa is god-tier and worth the price of admission.
