Baldur’s Gate 3 will hit stores tomorrow, Thursday, August 3, for PC. Although the title has been in early access for three years, in just 24 hours it will be the moment when the doors of this RPG will open for everyone in a definitive way. However, we will have to wait one more month for PlayStation 5… and much longer for Xbox X | S Series.

It is not the first time that the Larian Studios team talks about the problems that the Xbox console version is having. The reason is easy: both X Series and S Series must have the same game, and that is giving the studio real headaches.

“Far from being exclusive, we have no exclusivity agreement that would prevent us from releasing the game on Xbox,” publishing director Michael Douse commented on his Twitter account. “The problem is a technical hurdle. We can’t remove the split-screen feature because we are obligated to release the game in equal functionality between Xbox X and S Series, so we continue to try to make it work.”

“We have quite a few engineers hard at work to do what no other RPG of this scale has achieved: seamless co-op in the S-Series. We hope to have an update by the end of the year,” he noted in another tweet.

With this third message in the chain, the Larian member made everything clear: we will not see Baldur’s Gate 3 during this 2023. At best, we’ll have some news at the end of the year, but we won’t see the game released until 2024 (or longer, who knows).
