In just a few hours, Forspoken will be available to all players in the world. The exclusive production on PlayStation 5 consoles (it also comes out on PC) comes with quite a stir. But why has this happened with the Square Enix video game? Let’s go in parts.

Announced at the end of 2020 as Project Athia, the one that would later be called Forspoken was shown with an impressive trailer where the Luminous Engine did real wonders: particles flying across the stage, frenetic control and incredible lighting created a perfect cocktail for the game. However, after this first trailer, the news of the title was diluted like sugar in coffee.

The months went by and we had no news, and when we received them they were the worst possible: Forspoken was late. In fact, this has happened twice already, with a first official date of May 24, 2022, then October 11, 2022 (first delay), and now finally January 24, 2023 (second delay).

However, what has hurt the game the most has been, precisely, something that is always in demand: its playable demo. It is well known that demos are the devil’s work, which is why many studios have stopped releasing them. After all, you may buy a title thanks to playing this one, but the opposite can also happen, that is, you may not even want to play the game. And this is what is happening to Forspoken.

After the launch of the demo, the vast majority of feedback that was seen on social networks was bad. Complaints ranged from the erratic control of Frey (the protagonist) to the empty world that she roamed, as well as a combat system that did not quite work. Square Enix was so aware of this that they even released a patch for the demo. If it is already rare to see a demo these days, publishing a patch for this one is even more so.

With all this behind it, Forspoken has gone from being one of the most anticipated titles of 2023 to being in a doubtful position, and it has all been largely because of that published demo. In addition, to this is added a detail that always stinks: the specialized press complained that the analysis codes had not arrived this past Friday. And yes, the game comes out in a few hours.

With all this already told, we will clear up our doubts in a matter of a few hours, but everything indicates that Forspoken has gone from being one of the most anticipated titles of 2023… to be on a list where ignominy is the predominant note.
