Adobe has just made Fresco, its digital drawing and painting app, completely free. With this decision, Adobe aims to compete head-to-head with alternatives like Procreate and Clip Studio Paint, which already offer tools and simulations of traditional materials, from pencils to watercolors, and have gained enormous popularity for being cheaper and easier to use on all types of devices.

Now, all these premium features are unlocked at no cost, bringing Adobe closer to the one-time purchase model of rivals like Procreate, which costs $12.99.

The app, launched in 2019, still does not have the recognition of giants like Photoshop or Illustrator. However, it features interesting tools such as reflection and rotation symmetry, as well as simple animations. Although Fresco still does not integrate generative AI functions, the app offers various advantages, such as cloud storage and a desktop version, which can attract users looking for greater flexibility and advanced tools in their creative work.
