Love, Death, and Robots returns with a fourth season that is very musical

David Fincher is back with an innovative project that is sure to surprise many: a musical animated short that will be part of the fourth season of Love, Death, and Robots. This short film recreates a memorable concert by the band Red Hot Chili Peppers that took place on August 23, 2003, at Slane Castle, Ireland, in front of a crowd of 80,000 fans who sold out the tickets in less than two hours.

The event, legendary in the history of rock, not only featured the Californian band but also had the support of big names like Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and PJ Harvey, among others. The combination of an iconic concert with Fincher’s distinctive animation promises to offer a unique visual experience to the audience.

A series that struggled to find a place to land

Love, Death, and Robots began its journey on Netflix in 2019, having initially been conceived as a reboot of the classic animated science fiction film Heavy Metal. After eleven years of development, marked by creative differences between the team and the studios, the project was finally accepted by Netflix as an anthology series rather than as a movie, which has allowed for greater narrative and stylistic diversity.

The fourth season of Love, Death, and Robots will premiere on Netflix on May 15, and this new musical short could be one of the highlights of the series. Fincher, who had already worked on the third season, continues to push the boundaries of animated storytelling and the fusion of music in his projects. Fans of the series are eager to see how this intersection between animation and an iconic moment in rock will unfold.
