‘We run a business.’ Few phrases are more clear and direct than the last one spoken by Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft’s gaming division. Spoken yesterday during an interview held within the framework of Gamescom, the boss of Xbox wanted to explain why Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is coming to PlayStation 5… when it was supposed to be an Xbox exclusive.
‘When I observe the situation, what I see is that our franchises are becoming stronger, with more Xbox players on consoles than ever before this year,’ he says. ‘The goal has to be better games that more people can play.’
After these statements, one may wonder to what extent Microsoft games are working on PlayStation. The answer? It seems to be very well, or at least that’s what we can gather from information published by Windows Central (a media outlet that usually has a lot of exclusive data about Microsoft).
According to the popular portal, games like Sea of Thieves have already sold over a million copies on PlayStation since it was released in April of this year. In fact, the game was the best-selling game in May in the United States, Canada, and Europe on Sony’s digital platform, confirming its great success.
With this data on the table, Spencer wants to shape his speech and understand the motivations behind Indiana Jones and The Great Circle on PS5. After all, somehow we have to recover the almost 68 billion dollars that have been spent to acquire Activision Blizzard King.
