Some games are trapped in a console. They were released on a specific system and, outside of it, they have never seen a reissue or a re-release. Bloodborne is locked in PlayStation 4 and, although fans have been very vocal about wanting it on PC and other systems, Sony and From Software have turned a deaf ear. Or so it seems. Because Hidetaka Miyazaki, creator of Bloodborne and the entire Souls franchise, seems to be aware of this desire.
In a recent conversation with Eurogamer granted by the announcement of the release date of the Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, Miyazaki has stated that the studio is aware that people want a Bloodborne remake or remaster. Commenting on some specifics about his opinion on the matter.
In this conversation, Miyazaki says that part of what gives value to a remake is the new hardware. The possibility of achieving things that were not possible in a previous generation. And while this is not the main purpose of a remake, it is something significant. Something to which he has added that the possibility of more people being able to play a game is a good reason to make a remake or a re-release of it. Since he considers accessibility to be, and should be, the reason to bring an old game to a new platform.
As it is evident, Miyazaki cannot comment on whether there is any ongoing work to bring Bloodborne to the present. However, what he does is appreciate the players’ passion for the game, as he has many specific memories of the game’s development.
All of this has happened, as we mentioned before, following the announcement of the release date for the new Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. Unlike a Bloodborne remake, this one is actually in development and will be released on June 21st for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC for a price of 40 euros.
