Ever since they delighted us with an incredible first season in 2013, we’ve been eagerly waiting to see the continuation of the series The Last of Us on the small screen. Now, we know that it’s already been filmed and that it will follow the events of the second video game… to a certain extent. But how many episodes will this series have?
In an interview with Deadline, co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have assured us that this second season will be shorter than the first, with only seven episodes. This is how they justify it: “The story material we have from Part II of the game is far superior to the story material from the first game, so part of what we had to do from the start was figure out how to tell that story over multiple seasons. When you do that, you look for natural breaking points and, the way we presented it this season, the natural breaking point seemed to come after the seventh episode.”

When will the second season of The Last of Us be released on Max?
But when will we be able to see these episodes on the small screen? According to what they stated at the time, everything seems to suggest that we’ll be able to see it around the beginning of 2025, two years after the first season. However, it is yet to be officially confirmed by Max.
