Hyundai has embarked on a significant expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) offerings by granting its customers access to over 20,000 Tesla Superchargers across North America.

This newly established access nearly doubles the charging options that current Hyundai EV owners had before, marking a pivotal moment for the company as it solidifies its presence in the rapidly evolving electric mobility landscape.

Starting today, drivers of the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, Kona Electric, and the original IONIQ Electric hatchback can benefit from this expansive charging network.

Hyundai’s $21 Billion Investment Sets the Stage for Enhanced EV Model Production

To facilitate this transition, Hyundai will also distribute free North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters to customers who purchased or leased these vehicles before January 31, 2025. Recipients can expect an email with instructions for claiming their adapters by early April.

Olabisi Boyle, Hyundai Motor North America’s senior vice president, emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing EV infrastructure through their recent landmark investment of $21 billion in the U.S. This initiative underscores Hyundai’s strategic focus on electric vehicles, aligning with its plans to ramp up production and accessibility of innovative models in the coming years.

Among the upcoming models, the refreshed 2025 IONIQ 5 and the brand’s first three-row electric SUV, the IONIQ 9, will feature integrated NACS ports for seamless charging at Tesla Superchargers.

Additionally, Hyundai has launched a promotion providing customers who purchase or lease a 2024 or 2025 IONIQ 5 or IONIQ 6 with a complimentary ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger, further alleviating the concerns of new EV owners regarding home charging solutions.

This comprehensive approach not only elevates Hyundai’s competitive stance in the EV market but also enhances the overall driving experience for its customers as they transition to sustainable transportation.
