There have been few surprises with the recently released iOS 17.5. Although it was available as a beta since early April, it is now that Apple has released it globally. Along with iOS 17.5, iPadOS 17.5 also arrives, a version that will be debuted by the newly announced iPad Pro and iPad Air.
Main features of iOS 17.5
Download applications from the Internet: For the first time, iOS 17.5 will allow iPhone users to download applications directly from compatible websites without the need to use the App Store. This eliminates the dependence on app stores, whether it’s Apple’s official store or an alternative. However, all applications downloaded from websites must meet Apple’s criteria. For now, this functionality will not be available on iPad until the end of the year.
Third-party tracking alerts: Now, iOS 17.5 will let you know if a location device is nearby. According to Apple, users will receive a notification if there is a compatible Bluetooth tracker moving alongside them.
New widget for the Podcast app: The Podcast widget has been slightly redesigned to adapt the background color according to the program that is currently playing.
iPad Battery Health: Some changes detected in the code of iOS 17.5 beta refer to the introduction of a battery health feature on the iPad. This is not listed as a new feature in iPadOS 17.5, so we don’t know yet if it is an exclusive function for the latest iPads or a feature that will be added in the near future.

Total Block on Facetime: The rise of spam calls through Facetime has led Apple to include the option to block all participants at once.
New wallpapers “Radiant Pride“: Apple is preparing for the arrival of June, the month of LGBTQ+ Pride celebration, with these new themed wallpapers. In them, the word “pride” is painted with the colors that represent the community.
