iPhone 17 Pro: 7 rumors that could change Apple’s iPhone forever

As Apple continues its yearly tradition of iPhone releases, attention is already turning to the next-generation iPhone 17 Pro, which is expected to debut in September. While the iPhone 16 Pro is still fresh on shelves, several compelling rumors suggest major upgrades are on the way—some of which could redefine the iPhone experience altogether.

A bold new design direction

The iPhone 17 Pro may introduce a completely redesigned camera layout, replacing the familiar raised rectangle with a horizontal block spanning the device’s back—a visually striking departure from previous models.

A19 Pro chip for more power

The upcoming A19 Pro chip is expected to offer a ~20% performance boost, built on an enhanced 3nm process. This would not only mean faster speeds but better energy efficiency, translating into longer battery life.

Vapor chamber cooling

Apple might finally adopt vapor chamber cooling in the Pro series. While some reports say only the Pro Max will benefit, others suggest both models could see reduced thermal throttling under pressure.

Boosted RAM for AI features

Both trusted analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Jeff Pu expect the iPhone 17 Pro to jump to 12GB of RAM, likely to support more advanced AI functions tied to Apple Intelligence.

Sharper telephoto lens

The 12MP telephoto sensor could be upgraded to 48MP, promising much better zoom quality for both photos and videos—bringing it in line with the primary and ultra-wide lenses.

Enhanced selfie capabilities

The front camera may double its resolution to 24MP with a new six-element lens, delivering brighter, sharper selfieswith reduced distortion.

Slightly faster charging

Charging speeds might get bumped to 35W wired, reducing charge times compared to the current 20W standard—a modest but welcome improvement.
