Despite the series has premiered with controversy, since a week before its premiere its creator has been abruptly fired by Disney, many are still looking forward to the arrival of X-Men ’97. Now, the first reviews have arrived and we can find out if it’s really worth it or better to let it pass.

X-Men ’97 Reviews

The truth is that the reviews for X-Men ’97 couldn’t be more encouraging. The show has a rating of 9.2 on IMDb, and most people believe it is one of the best animated series that has been released on the streaming platform. Here are some excerpts of what they say about it:

“X-Men ’97 is a worthy continuation of the beloved animated series. As a direct continuation of The Animated Series, the show dedicates its energies to doing right by the nostalgic while introducing itself to a new audience. And as a non-canon animation, it allows for big, wild changes to its story” – Alison Hernan, Variety

“X-Men ’97 achieves a winning balance between emotional nostalgia and fresh dynamism” – Angie Han, The Hollywood Reporter

“Although X-Men ’97 recalls the original series, it doesn’t look exactly the same, and that’s the best part. It’s a sequel that reminds us of the previous series, but it has its own rules and dynamics” – Jesse Schedeen, IGN
