It started out as a B-movie with shootouts, explosions and a world-renowned protagonist. Now, 9 years later, John Wick is a saga worth hundreds of millions of dollars and Keanu Reeves is a star on the rise.
John Wick 4 (or John Wick: Chapter 4) was released a couple of weeks ago and the box office is on fire with $137 million in its first week in theaters. Quite a success and a record for the franchise.
What John Wick 4 is about
The synopsis of John Wick 4 states that John Wick, legendary retired assassin, is back in action driven by an uncontrollable quest for revenge.
Having to fight bloodthirsty killers who are after him, John will have to push his skills to the limit if he wants to get out this time alive.
After all, aren’t all four movies the same? John Wick is involved in an endless chase against a group of assassins who don’t know what they’re getting into when they declare war on good old Wick.
Why is the least important thing, what we want is shooting, fighting and explosions. And in John Wick 4 we have, according to critics and fans, the best installment of the four so far.
What platform is John Wick 4 released on?
This is the next question we must answer. Rumors suggest that the film will arrive on Netflix before summer, since so far it is the platform that has bet on such films (not exclusively, also HBO Max).
So with the good pull at the box office that has had the fourth installment, it is most likely that Netflix will not miss the opportunity to score a goal with its subscribers, which are not very happy lately with their decisions and catalog.
As we said before about The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Netflix has to make sure those movie releases that are not from Disney, Warner Bros. or Paramount.
Otherwise the other platforms would have a competitive advantage thanks to their Disney+, HBO Max and SkyShowtime respectively. We will see what happens, but the war is about to start.
