When is Life is Strange: Double Exposure coming out?

Life is Strange: Double Exposure arrives in stores this October 29, 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC. However, players can access the first two chapters right now if they purchase the Ultimate Edition.

Square Enix has pointed out that there will be no editions for the previous generation of consoles, so PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are left out. However, there will be a version for Nintendo Switch, although we will have to wait a bit to enjoy it.

How many editions (and price) does Life is Strange: Double Exposure have?

Life is Strange: Double Exposure has a total of three editions, each with different content. They are as follows:

  • Standard Edition (59.99 euros): the base game.
  • Deluxe Edition (69.99 euros): the base game, a horror outfit pack, and an anachronistic outfit pack.
  • Ultimate Edition (89.99 euros): all the deluxe content plus early access to the first two chapters, a Final Fantasy VII outfit pack, a fan outfit pack, a feline content outfit pack, and exclusive feline content.

What do the first two chapters bring?

In the first two chapters of the game, we will see the return of Max, the beloved protagonist of the saga who is now a resident photographer at Caledon University. As soon as the story begins, we will meet the astrophysicist Moses and the budding poet Safi, among many other new characters. The idea of these first two chapters is to set the stage for the dramatic events to come: Safi is found murdered in the snow and Max wants to save her.

From this point, we will have to rewind time to access that power that has not been used for years. Since this doesn’t work, Max opens a portal to a parallel timeline where Safi is still alive, but the killer will go after her to end her life. This is the premise of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, a constant leap between both timelines to solve the same murder.

As expected, all the content from these two chapters is automatically transferred to the full game. Additionally, each episode can be played repeatedly without any limit, so if someone wants to restart over and over, they just need to do it.

Who is behind Life is Strange: Double Exposure?

Although Dontnod Entertainment are the main creators of Life is Strange from its origins – as they were the studio that conceived the first game – this Life is Strange: Double Exposure is being handled by Deck Nine. This American studio has nearly three decades of experience under its belt, in addition to being a regular in the Life is Strange saga.

To be exact, Deck Nine was involved in Life is Strange: Before the Storm, Life is Strange: True Colors, and the Life is Strange remaster. With this Double Exposure, the studio tackles its fourth project in the franchise, a clear statement of how well they have mastered it.

It should not be forgotten, however, that the license still belongs at the publisher level to Square Enix. In fact, as stated on their website, Square Enix External Studios is also behind this development.

Here is all the information you need to know about Life is Strange: Double Exposure. Start preparing for Max’s next adventure.
