We will all remember 2020 and 2021 as the year of the most acute pandemic, the year of being locked up at home, going out with masks, complying with restrictions and waiting for the vaccination to reach cruising speed to try to return to a “normal” life. However, those were also the years of the peak of Twitch and the platform’s series, among which Marbella Vice stood out.
It was on April 11, 2021 when CooLifeGame and Ibai Llanos launched a Twitch fiction that worked wonders among millions of viewers around the world. The approach was simple: play a character within the GTA V universe. Roleplay, in other words. Luckily for us, we have great news: the development of Marbella Vice 2 has been announced for 2024.
Almost three years later, we, the viewers, are going to have a new series based on this GTA V world modified for the occasion as if it were Marbella. However, we are going to do something else: we are going to remember what this series left us and what we can expect from it.
The irruption of now giant streamers
Marbella Vice was the gateway for many streamers who are now in the top echelon of Twitch. However, there was one of them for whom it was his leap to stardom: IlloJuan. The Malaga native has been on the platform for many years and the beginning of the pandemic boosted him a lot, but with Marbella Vice his numbers skyrocketed to such an extent that today he is the streamer with the most subscribers in Spanish-speaking countries. He is number 1, come on.
On the other hand, already giant figures like Ibai or Cristinini knew how to adapt well to this virtual world to enjoy all its virtues. And that helped the series, of course.
The Spanish recreation
If this Marbella Vice also stood out for something, it was because of the incredible mod that was made in the city. Everything was dressed in the purest Spanish style. It was very funny to see a National Police car that was exactly the same as the one that can be seen on the street, not to mention the entrance monument to Marbella, an El Corte Inglés store, a McDonalds in an industrial estate, etc. Everything was reminiscent of what is on the street.
Popular culture characters
We have already said that many streamers made a huge leap, as in the case of IlloJuan. But this happened because of how funny their characters were and how well they played them.
For example, Borja Pavón got into the role of Rodolfo Mascarpone, whose “peculiar” voice gave personality to a character who just wanted to talk to everyone. The same with “El Kike”, IlloJuan’s character who wore a Málaga T-shirt and had a “cani” look that was beyond him. Or Juan Demonio, a boy who wouldn’t stay still even under water and to whom Spursito lent his voice.
We need all of these to return for Marbella Vice 2. It is practically an obligation.
And new faces
Yes, we like the appearance of old faces, but we would also love to see new faces from streaming being given a chance. It’s quite tiresome that the same people are always called even though they don’t have the level for some series.
You should try to call new people, those smaller streamers who can give fresh air by coming with the desire to eat the world.
