Microsoft Teams users may soon breathe a sigh of relief, as the platform is preparing to introduce a long-requested feature to reduce notification distractions. With pop-up alerts often interrupting focus and cluttering screens, this upcoming change could significantly improve the Teams experience across devices.
A cleaner, more flexible notification system
According to Microsoft’s 365 roadmap, Teams will soon allow users to adjust the size of their notifications, offering a new “compact” version designed to occupy less space and minimize visual disruption while working. This new option promises a more streamlined, minimalist design that better fits modern workflows.
Though details remain limited, it’s likely this setting will be accessible through the platform’s Preferences or Notification Settings menu, offering simple customization for a more tailored experience.
Rollout planned for July 2025
The update is currently marked as “in development” but is scheduled to begin rolling out in July 2025 to Teams users worldwide, including those on Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. Once available, all users will benefit from this added control—especially those who spend extended hours in meetings or collaborative work sessions.
Part of a broader user-focused update strategy
This improvement follows several recent updates to Teams focused on enhancing usability and reducing friction during calls and meetings. Microsoft has already introduced multi-presenter controls for slides, noise suppression for call-ins, and even enhanced spell check to elevate communication accuracy.
Together, these updates reflect Microsoft’s continued commitment to refining the Teams experience with smarter, less intrusive tools—ensuring that the platform supports productivity without unnecessary interruptions.
