After making a brief appearance in the App Store on Tuesday this week, the app is finally available to download. The launch of MyGlass for iOS comes shortly after Google released the XE12 update for Google Glass, which brought new app support for YouTube uploads, Hangouts, and more. While Google offered no explanation about why MyGlass for iOS was released and quickly pulled, it may have been because the company wanted to launch XE12 first.
The MyGlass app for iOS is identical to its Android counterpart, allowing Glass owners to remotely install apps, manage Wi-Fi connections, and screencast from Glass to a phone. Previously, iOS users would have to rely on the Google Glass website to perform these functions. Now iOS users can set up Glass using the MyGlass app.
If you don’t have a pair of Google’s experimental eyewear, the app is basically useless.
