Netflix continues to strongly invest in its anime catalog and has just added a gem that has captivated generations of fans for years: Ore Monogatari!!, known on the platform as My Love Story!! This adaptation of the manga by Kazune Kawahara and Aruko, produced by the prestigious studio Madhouse—who were behind Frieren and Death Note—originally premiered in 2015, but has since continued to gain followers. It features 24 episodes where humor, and especially romance and tenderness, are not lacking.

Despite his kind personality and enormous capacity for self-sacrifice, Takeo has always had bad luck with girls, who usually overlook him to fall in love with his best friend, Makoto Sunakawa, the most popular in class. However, his luck changes when he saves Rinko Yamato, a sweet and shy girl who not only isn’t intimidated by his appearance but falls in love with him from the first time she sees him.
A new boost for a mythical anime among romance fans
Although it may seem like a cliché, the truth is that the series breaks the typical molds of school romances, making Ore Monogatari!! a unique series in its kind. Far from being a prototypical shojo, the story does not revolve around endless misunderstandings or worn-out love triangles, but rather celebrates sincerity, acceptance, and genuine love from an innovative perspective. It is a safe place in every sense.
Although Ore Monogatari!! was already available on Crunchyroll, its arrival on Netflix makes it more accessible to a wider audience. However, for now, it is only available in its original Japanese version with subtitles in various languages. Undoubtedly, this could be a great opportunity to rediscover the series or even hope that, just like with Kimi ni Todoke, this re-release will boost the production of a new season that adapts the rest of the manga, which was left unfinished.
