The premiere of The Flash is one of the most anticipated superhero films of the year. While it will have a tough time competing against Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and, above all, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, it has enough elements to capture people’s attention to the movie.

While the fact that it is starring Ezra Miller, an actor who has been involved in controversies for the past couple of years, has clouded the matter, there are still reasons to watch the movie. One of these reasons is that the film features two iconic Batman actors from the movies: the recent one played by Ben Affleck and the classic one played by Michael Keaton.

However, after watching the movie, we can say that these are not the only Batmen that appear in the film. Spoiler alert, things are about to get interesting.

George Clooney returns as Batman

Another Batman appears in The Flash: George Clooney’s Batman from Batman and Robin. Although the actor has repeatedly expressed regret for being a part of that film, criticizing and joking about it whenever given the chance, he has had the opportunity to redeem himself in Andy Muschietti’s movie.

Specifically, Clooney makes an appearance towards the end of the film. After all the epic events, Barry Allen travels back in time to let his mother die—a fate he cannot change—but in the process, he helps his father, who was accused of her murder, by providing evidence that he wasn’t the culprit captured on the security cameras.

This change may seem trivial, but as we see throughout the movie, the flutter of a butterfly can have consequences, and so does this alteration in the new universe that Flash finds himself in. One of these consequences is that Batman is now portrayed by George Clooney.

In the space between multiverses, we also see Adam West’s Batman and Christopher Reeve’s Superman, making it clear that anything is possible in this new context. However, the presence of Clooney’s Batman may not be a coincidence… Could he be the protagonist of The Brave and the Bold?

While we can’t say for sure yet, considering that the movie is looking for an older Batman and Muschietti himself is the director, Clooney could be the perfect actor to portray him. It would also be a great opportunity for him to redeem himself from the ill-fated Batman and Robin.
