Nissan is set to officially unveil the next-generation LEAF later this year, marking a significant transformation from its predecessor’s design.
The iconic electric hatchback has evolved into a sleek, family-friendly crossover that promises to redefine its place in the electric vehicle market.
One of the standout features of the new LEAF is its impressive estimated WLTP driving range of up to 373 miles (600 km).
Nissan Integrates NACS Port in Next-Gen Leaf for Tesla Supercharger Accessibility
While this figure may be lower according to the EPA standards, expectations suggest that the new model could deliver around 300 miles, a remarkable leap from the current LEAF SV Plus, which offers an EPA-estimated range of 212 miles. This substantial improvement illustrates Nissan’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency and performance of its electric vehicles.
The next-gen LEAF will also debut with an integrated North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, allowing it to charge at Tesla Superchargers. This development has already been evidenced, with sightings of the LEAF utilizing Tesla’s charging network in Canada. The implementation of NACS ports reflects Nissan’s strategic move to embrace the increasingly interconnected EV ecosystem.
Based on the CMF-EV platform, which also underpins Nissan’s Ariya, the new LEAF is expected to deliver significant performance enhancements. The reimagined LEAF will join Nissan’s broader strategy of introducing ten new or refreshed vehicles across the U.S. and Canada, including a highly anticipated adventure-focused SUV targeted for a late 2027 launch.
As anticipation builds ahead of the official reveal, further details about the new LEAF are expected to emerge mid-year. Current rumors suggest that the crossover may be more closely aligned with consumer preferences, combining style and functionality, akin to Tesla’s design philosophy. Enthusiasts and potential buyers alike will be eager for additional insights as Nissan continues to reshape its electric vehicle offerings.
