Nicolas Cage has become, over the years, a walking internet meme beloved by all. Although his transformation into a character was initially shocking – we’re talking about an Oscar-winning actor – Cage has finally embraced it and now he can’t stop playing characters that draw from the best of himself.

Among other characters, there is a very funny one that he has already played in two movies: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. In both films, Cage has voiced Spider-Man Noir, a very funny version of the character who lives in 1933 and is a dark and intense detective.

An Amazon Prime Video series is in development

The character’s fame and his good performance have been so encouraged that they are even considering a live-action series… with Nicolas Cage as the protagonist. This is explained in an interview for Collider:

“Well, I can say that we have been talking. It’s no secret that I love the character. I think the character offers a different kind of blend. I can combine my favorite interpretations from the golden age, that is, Robinson, Cagney, Bogart, with a character that is widely considered as Stan Lee’s masterpiece. I see it as a kind of foray into a mix of pop art, something like a Lichtenstein, a mix through Bogart and Cagney, but there is still nothing definitive. It’s just a conversation.”

The series he is talking about is no secret. Amazon Prime Video is developing this fiction for its platform, developed by the producers of Un nuevo universo, Chris Miller and Phil Lord, and with Steve Lightfoot, from The Punisher, as showrunner. We hope to have more information soon. Certainly, it would be a luxury to see Cage in such an interpretation.
