It is clear that Disney is not at its best moment when it comes to animation. While their big hits are becoming less and less successful, films from other companies like Dreamworks or even Netflix are surpassing them every now and then. This year it happened with Nimona, a movie that has been nominated for an Oscar and whose reviews have surpassed bets like Elemental. But the truth is that Mickey Mouse’s company could have taken advantage of this film much earlier.

Originally, the project belonged to Disney… more or less. Actually, Nimona was going to see the light under the Blue Sky studio, as it is an adaptation of the famous comic by ND Stevenson. This studio belonged to Fox, and when Disney bought the company, it closed the studio and had to cancel the project… even though production was already 75% complete.

The movie was practically completed

As reported, the production only had one year left to be completed, so if Disney had wanted to continue, they would have had it very easy and success could have been theirs. However, by closing the studio, Nimona ended up falling into the hands of Anapurna and Netflix, and it has been the streaming platform that has finally given the green light to this audiovisual gem.
