After the appointment, he discovered a racial slur printed on the service label, an incident that has generated outrage and media attention. The situation went viral, leading to a significant response from the automotive community.

In a gesture of solidarity, the Family Nissan dealership, located more than 1,000 km from New York, has decided to gift Starks a Nissan LEAF, an electric vehicle that, according to the dealership, symbolizes a new beginning for her and her family as it will not require oil changes in the future.

A racist insult that ends with a free car

Ramzey Rizk, the dealership owner, expressed: “We were frustrated and upset about what happened. We want Makayla to know that we are with her and that we support her.”

The incident took place last month at Kunes Buick GMC in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, where Starks found the racial slur in his vehicle. After the news became public, the dealership immediately fired the responsible employee and spoke out against such behavior.

Starks commented that the incident was “painful and harmful,” but he also acknowledges that this unexpected gift from the dealership in New York can be seen as an opportunity for his family.

Starks will fly to New York on Friday to officially pick up his new LEAF and has decided not to keep the vehicle he bought at Kunes. “Life has strange ways of showing itself,” he said.

“And I believe that the positive thing is that I am receiving a car, which will be a great help for my family.” This gesture has resonated in the community, demonstrating that empathy and support can arise even in the most difficult circumstances.
