Disney is not going through one of its best moments, and to realize this you just have to list the different box office failures that the studio had in 2023. Beyond the Marvel Studios movies, which for the first time ceased to be profitable after The Marvels, there is a feature film that crashed at the box office last year and yet deserves a rewatch.

The movie in question is Wish. It is the latest animated feature film from Disney, following Strange World and Encanto. But despite being a highly anticipated film that the studio had been working on for many years, it didn’t quite resonate with its audience. Now, with its release on Disney Plus, I think it’s a good time to give it another chance.

A perfect movie for the whole family

Wish tells the story of Asha, who with a small, unlimited energy ball called Star, has the mission to prove that when the will of a brave human being connects with the magic of the stars, wonderful things can happen.

Undoubtedly, Wish reminds us of some of Disney’s most classic tales, with metaphors and reflections for all audiences that manage to make a “click” in the viewer just like movies like Inside Out or Soul. In addition, its modern aesthetic makes the new generations enter it in an unparalleled way. Certainly, it is worth taking a look at it before completely discarding it.
