Path of Exile 2 faces negative backlash after the Dawn of the Hunt update

Path of Exile 2, the highly anticipated title from Grinding Gear Games, has suffered a significant blow to its reputation following the release of the Dawn of the Hunt update. Acclaimed at its launch by over half a million players, the game is now facing a deluge of negative reviews on Steam, which have compromised its overall rating. In the last 30 days, only 55% of players have left positive reviews, raising concerns within the community, even though its overall score remains at 77%.

No one more critical than an angry gamer

The changes implemented in the new update seem to be the root of frustration among users. With the inclusion of a new class, over 100 new skill gems, and significant adjustments to endgame content, many players are finding themselves dissatisfied. In particular, the nerfs applied to popular builds have made progression more difficult, increasing the vulnerability of characters to crowd control effects, such as stuns and freezes.

Players’ comments reflect a growing discontent with the pace and difficulty curve, which they have rated as too slow and difficult. This discontent has been amplified by the comparison with the design of Path of Exile 1, where enemies, despite a more measured approach, continue to attack with great speed and in large numbers.

Some of the most relevant streamers in the community have also expressed their frustration, calling this stage one of the worst experiences they have had with the game. This decline in user satisfaction comes at a critical moment where Path of Exile 2 competes with other titles like Last Epoch and Diablo 4, increasing the pressure on Grinding Gear Games to make effective corrections before their player base disperses.

Although the game is still in early access, which provides the opportunity to make adjustments, fans are anxiously awaiting action to restore confidence in the title.
