It has been a few years (specifically four) since Amazon Luna, the cloud gaming service owned by Amazon, was launched. The reception of Luna by the public has been lukewarm and it has not managed to achieve a popularity similar to other services like Xbox Cloud Gaming. However, its new agreement with GoG could serve to encourage players to try the service.
GoG, the famous game store owned by CD Projekt Red, has announced that its catalog will be accessible through Amazon Luna. The news was announced by GoG itself through a statement published on its official blog.
In the article, they explain how this agreement will work exactly: “In Luna, you will be able to play all the games you already have on GoG”. Additionally, the company states that the titles you have previously purchased will be available to play on Luna. This way, you won’t have to go through the checkout again or make additional purchases.
The company clarifies that “buying games on GoGG (either directly or through Luna) will give you the best of both worlds”, cloud gaming and offline gaming. In addition, features such as cloud saving and achievements will also be available through Luna for any game purchased on GoG.
At the moment, the blog post has not made it clear when this new stage with Amazon Luna will begin. However, you already have several GoG games available within NVIDIA GeForce NOW, the service owned by NVIDIA.
As of today, Amazon Luna is available for residents of the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. To play through the Amazon service, we have several options:
- Subscribe to Amazon Prime: one of the benefits of Prime includes the ability to play a selection of specific titles, which rotate periodically.
- Subscribe to Amazon Luna +: you pay a monthly subscription of 9.99 euros that allows you to access the entire service catalog without limits.
