Unsure if that game on offer for Black Friday is worth it? Don’t worry, you now have a way to find out. Sony has introduced a feature on the PlayStation Store, the digital game and app store for PlayStation, allowing users to rate products. Ratings will be based on the classic 5-star system already used by companies like Amazon or Google.

Although this system has been visible for a month now, it wasn’t until yesterday, November 16, when Sony announced the launch of the feature worldwide. “Star ratings are available today on PS Store. What’s the first game you’ll give 5 stars to?” Ask PlayStation‘s account tweeted.

As many might assume, this new rating system would allow users to submit their reviews for games or apps they try, rating them from one to five stars. The new feature only allows users to rate games they’ve purchased, preventing them from taking action otherwise, but enabling them to view the average rating by other users.

“To view game ratings, you’ll need to access the PlayStation Store through your PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 by selecting the PS Store icon from the console’s main menu. Once inside, simply navigate to the game’s profile you’re interested in, either by using the menus provided or by utilizing the search function.”

When accessing the product page, you’ll see the average rating it has received, along with a breakdown of the number of ratings submitted and their proportion (similar to Amazon’s product pages). If you’ve purchased, added to your library, or acquired the game for free, you can rate it to record your assessment.

“This rating system is currently only available on the PlayStation Store when accessed through PS4 and PS5 consoles. However, it’s highly likely that it will eventually be available on the web version.
