Not everything is superheroes and galaxies far, far away on Disney+. Mickey Mouse’s streaming service bets on cultural and differential content like the one we bring you today. Pay close attention, readers!
Disney premieres today a new original Italian documentary series, “Raffa”, which will be released on Disney+ worldwide on December 27, 2023. That is, today.
The series is about Raffaella Carrà, one of the most famous and beloved Italian stars abroad, and it gives a behind-the-scenes look at her 60 million records sold, television successes, movies, and international tours.
Who was Raffaella and why is the docuseries worth it
Symbol of freedom and gender equality in the 70s, queen of public television in the 80s and LGBTQ+ icon in the 90s, Raffaella is a legend that transcends all cultural and generational barriers and that the audience from all over the world has adored for over 50 years.
However, Raffaella is also a mystery that no one has the key to. A reserved person by nature and very protective of her private life, Raffaella is a woman who has to fight to assert herself in a male-dominated world, but also one who has loved and suffered.
The docuseries will explore the public and private life of the artist, starting with her childhood in Romaña, marked by the abandonment of her father, and then her flirtation with “cover” with Frank Sinatra, her two great loves, her sorrow for a lost motherhood, her many successes and a few failures, her crises and rebirths.
The documentary series consists of three one-hour episodes and has been produced by Fremantle. It has been directed by Daniele Luchetti and written by Cristiana Farina alongside Barbara Boncompagni.
Although the international release of the documentary has not been announced yet, as is the case with most international originals on Disney+, the majority are available worldwide. For example, it arrives today in Spain and Italy.
