League of Legends is one of the most played video games in recent years; it popularized the MOBA genre and quickly became a unique benchmark for the industry. However, not only its gameplay and streamings made it famous, but also its lore and characters, an unparalleled icon of Riot Games and everything that has to do with LoL.

A few years ago, Riot and Netflix reached an agreement to carry out a production of this vast world, and soon came to the development of Arcane, a series released in 2021 that became an incredible success and one of the most watched on the platform. Thanks to its story, its animation and the emotion imprinted on its characters, Arcane was a massive success. But what about the second season?

Two years have already passed and we still haven’t seen more chapters that continue Vi and Jinx’s story. However, we finally have some more information about the continuation of Arcane. Season 2 is coming soon, so here’s everything we know so far about the series.

When will the second season of Arcane be released?

The first thing we have to discern is when the new episodes of Arcane will be released. The series was left open-ended in most of its plots, with spectacular cliffhangers that left our mouths watering waiting for what will happen. But when will all this be resolved and will we be able to continue with the adventure?

At the moment, we do not have very good news. Everything indicates that the premiere will be in 2024, with no chance of seeing it this year, and it may even be delayed even more. Last April, Nicolo Laurent, president of Riot Games, commented that the production was not ready yet and that they didn’t want to rush so that the quality would be up to par. The statements were as follows:

“It’s not ready yet, and there are two reasons for that. One, we want quality. We don’t want to rush and it takes time, that’s the good reason. The bad one is that we honestly didn’t know if the first season was going to be a success, so we didn’t start the second season until after. If we had known, we would have started Season 2 much earlier, but we didn’t know so we waited a little bit and now we’re paying the piper. So, unfortunately, it’s not coming out this year.”

While this is bad news for fans, it is also good news: for the third season we won’t have to wait so long, since the success has been evident and they will be able to get to work sooner.

What will the second season of Arcane be about?

Arcane will reach its second season, as we said, with many plots to close. The first of them, and the most important since it vertebrates everything we have seen so far of the construction of its world, is the fight between Vi and Jinx. The two sisters have gone through great disputes that have made them drift apart… but will they manage to reconcile at some point or will everything get even worse?

On the other hand, we have other equally interesting secondary plots. We will see Caitlyn trying to gain the respect of her peers, Viktor trying to survive and becoming the being we know from the videogames and Jayce trying to correct his mistakes… or falling even further into it.

Of course, we will have more about the Underground City and we will follow the characters that appear closely. But not only that. The world of League of Legends, as we’ve come to sense in the series, is much bigger than what we’ve seen in Arcane… and features many more characters. Thus, it is more than likely that we will explore many other plots in the future of the series.
