Skull and Bones, the Ubisoft game that went through a very long development period until it saw the light, now has a date for its open beta. On February 8th, the game set in the golden age of plunder and piracy on the seas will be opened.

The game, whose release date on February 16th was finally revealed in the past months, will have a beta very close to its release date, something that will allow many players to experience the gameplay and choose to buy the game on launch day.

A pre-launch beta

After a long journey without a clear direction, the Skull and Bones ship is finally starting to appear on the horizon. In fact, they have announced that the open beta will take place between February 8th and 11th, a key weekend for all players who want to try the game a few days before its release.

Despite the very long wait, this game still has many fans hopeful that it will be a game in line with the quality and polish that Ubisoft games usually have (in fact, their main strength), and the beta will serve for many users to clear up their doubts just before the official release of Skull and Bones on February 16th.

The ups and downs and cuts at Ubisoft

For some time now, the future of this game seemed quite uncertain, especially considering that more than six years have passed since its initial announcement until its release date was revealed. Likewise, the cancellation of numerous projects made it seem like the company was going to opt for the same decision for this video game. However, the pirates of Skull and Bones have reached solid ground to premiere on February 16th.

On the other hand, the layoffs at Ubisoft in recent months have also been quite significant, in line with the path that the video game industry has started to take in recent times. In fact, although 2023 was considered a very negative year, 2024 has continued with the same trend, but even more pronounced, considering that in recent days, Xbox has laid off more than 1,900 employees from its company.
