Ubisoft has had a really tough year in terms of news. During the first quarter, they confirmed the cancellation of up to seven projects and acknowledged that their recent games didn’t perform as well as expected. Now, there’s another blow for the French company: there’s a new delay for Skull and Bones, and a “big game” has been postponed from its initial planned release date.

Indeed, Skull and Bones was initially planned for late 2018, but it faced delays until it had a definitive release date set for November 8, 2022. Game posters were even displayed in various stores. However, in September 2022, it was delayed once more to March 9, 2023. Later, it faced another delay to the current fiscal year quarter… and now another one to sometime between January 1 and March 31, 2024 (without a fixed date). It has been postponed so much that we no longer anticipate its release.

It’s worth noting that Skull and Bones has been in development since 2013. Thus, a decade has passed since the game began its journey with the Ubisoft Singapore team, a time during which we’ve seen three different console generations come and go.

On the other hand, Ubisoft has delayed a “major game.” The name hasn’t been specified, but it was initially slated for release before March 31, 2024, and now it will launch after this date. All indications point toward the title that faced this delay being Star Wars: Outlaws, the new game in the franchise developed by Massive.

Following disappointing financial results, Ubisoft has discussed the cost-cutting measures it’s implementing, unfortunately resulting in the loss of 1,300 jobs. As of now, the company still plans to release Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Just Dance 2024, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and the aforementioned Skull and Bones before March 31, 2024.
