I’m sure a decade ago, you were playing with friends in a LAN party at someone’s house, enjoying a team-based bank heist game. That game was Payday, and the good news is that the series has been revived and in the best way possible.
Now that there are just under two months left until the release of Payday 3 and nerves are running high, you’ll be glad to know that you can already try out the game. Yes, next week!
From August 2nd to August 7th, you’ll have the opportunity to play Payday 3 before its official release on September 21st through a closed beta on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
A closed beta starting in five days
According to Eurogamer, the beta will only include one mission, “No Rest for the Wicked,” but players will be able to play it cooperatively as many times as they want during those five days.
The level progression will also be present in the closed beta but will be limited to Infamy level 22 and Weapon level 8.
On Payday 3’s Steam page, it is also indicated that the beta’s progression will not carry over to the full game, regardless of whether you play on Xbox or PC. If you dislike the idea of your progress being reset, you may prefer to wait until the full release in September.
If you’re interested in signing up for the beta, all you need to do is go to the game’s Steam page, scroll down to the “Join the Payday 3 Playtest” section, and click on “Request Access.” If you are one of the lucky ones, you’ll receive an email from the developer Starbreeze when the beta is about to start.
For Xbox Series X|S users, you’ll need to download the Xbox Insider Hub app through the Store. Once in the app, head to the “Previews” tab and select the Payday 3 closed beta option. Again, the developer will notify you in advance if you have been selected to participate.
If you don’t manage to get into the closed beta on Xbox, there’s still hope. When Payday 3 is released on September 21st, it will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one. If you’re a subscriber, you can download and play the full game at no additional cost.
