The Last of Us Part II Remastered has been released today, and players are already reliving Ellie’s story (yes, just 4 years after the original game was released). While many of the buyers of this remastered version did not play The Last of Us Part II back then, others, however, already did, and wanted to get their hands on this remaster to enjoy its improvements.
Just like other games from PlayStation Studios that had a PS4 version and later received a native PS5 version, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered also offers the possibility to upgrade the version for a very reduced percentage of the full game price: 10 euros/dollars.
The problem? Many players were unaware of this and, having the PS4 version of The Last of Us Part 2, purchased the remastered version on the PlayStation Store at full price.
However, Sony quickly realized this possibility (probably after receiving complaints and questions from users) and has proceeded to refund the money spent on the digital version of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered to those users who have the digital version of The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4) in their library.
In a notification sent to affected users, Sony communicated the following: “As the owner of the digital version for PS4 of The Last of Us Part II, on launch day 19/1/24 there will be a digital update available for the PS5 version at a discounted price”.
“We don’t want you to miss out on that opportunity, so as a gesture of goodwill, we have refunded your pre-order purchase of The Last of Us Part II Remastered for PS5 so you can purchase the digital upgrade on launch day,” the company continued.
Sony concludes the message by clarifying that the content available with the update is the same as buying the game at full price: “Rest assured that when you purchase the digital update, you will also receive all the bonuses included in your original pre-order”.
“The refund amount will be credited to your original payment method. This may take up to 60 days to appear on your statement. If for any reason we cannot issue the refund to your original payment method, the amount will be credited to your PlayStation Network wallet”.
