One of the features that players have liked the most in recent decades is New Game Plus. This function, with over twenty years among us, was a breath of fresh air for gamers, as it allowed them to replay the game from the beginning with everything they had acquired after finishing it (items, weapons, abilities, money, etc.).

In my case, the first encounter I had with this feature was in Golden Sun 2, which had a New Game Plus where you retained your level, psynergy (magic), and money from the end of your playthrough (although you lost all your items). The function has been refined over the years, and more and more games now include it, either from their launch or through a later patch.

As for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 game that was released last Friday and has received excellent reviews from critics, it will be the latter case. Last week, Insomniac Games‘ Director of Communication confirmed on Twitter that they would add New Game Plus in a game patch set to be released “before the end of the year.”

And yes, many of you may already know that this isn’t exactly new. The same happened with Marvel’s Spider-Man, and players who had already achieved the game’s Platinum trophy had another reason to spend more hours playing. Additionally, new trophies were included, along with a new difficulty level and the ability to replay missions, which was much appreciated.

As of now, nothing is known about what will be included in Spider-Man 2‘s New Game Plus. However, judging by what its first part added, it would be reasonable to expect that it will have the same contents and perhaps even a few extra things. Either way, during the time it takes Insomniac to release it, you’ll have the opportunity to complete the game 100%, so make the most of it.
