The Spider-Man universe returns to the big screen with Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, the sequel to Sony Pictures’ blockbuster Spider-man: Into The Spider-Verse, which won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2019. After revealing its plot and a first trailer, a new and much more spectacular trailer arrives.

What will Spider-Man: Across the Spideverse be about?

The new trailer reveals a much more complex plot than the first film, where the multiverse is once again the central axis to present dozens of new versions of Spider-Man. In the new installment, Miles Morales will once again travel the multiverse in search of danger and adventure, encountering all sorts of other versions of himself.

In the trailer we can see how different versions of Spider-Man protect their own reality and how they will unite to face a greater danger. In addition, the appearance of The Blob as the main antagonist has been confirmed, as well as different versions of the web-slinger’s usual enemies.

The most important addition to the Spider-universe in this new film is Spider-Man 2099/Miguel O’Hara, played by Oscar Isaac. Other versions of Spider-Man have also been recognized, such as Ben Reilly, Spider-Woman or Spider-Punk, among others. There has even been speculation about a possible reference to Spider-Man: No Way Home and the existence of Doctor Strange and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man from the UCM.

The trailer begins, in fact, by showing us the live-action costumes of Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland, who we already saw together in Spider-Man: No Way Home. But it quickly gives way to tell Miles’ story. How they will all relate to each other is still a surprise that they want to reserve for the premiere.

The film will be directed by Joaquim Dos Santos and Kemp Powers, with Avi Arad and Amy Pascal producing. The voice cast in its original version includes Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld and Jake Johnson as Miles, Gwen and Peter. They are joined by Issa Rae as Spiderwoman and Jason Schwartzman as The Blob. Without a doubt, the cast seems to be up to the animation.

We won’t be able to see the film until June 2, but in the meantime we leave you with the official synopsis that has already been revealed:

“Miles Morales returns for the next chapter in the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Spider-Man, the friendly, full-time neighborhood Brooklynite, is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People tasked with protecting his existence. But when the heroes clash over how to handle a new threat, Miles confronts the other spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero in order to save the people he loves most.”
